Western Atlas Resources Inc. was a Canadian mineral exploration company that focused on the exploration and development of gold and copper deposits in Canada and Peru. The company was founded in 2006 and was headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia. Western Atlas Resources Inc. was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the symbol WA.
The company's flagship project was the Meadowbank gold project located in Nunavut, Canada. The project was acquired by Western Atlas Resources Inc. in 2009 and was later sold to Agnico Eagle Mines Limited in 2011 for $3.9 billion.
In addition to the Meadowbank project, Western Atlas Resources Inc. also had exploration projects in Peru, including the San Dimas gold-silver project and the Tres Cruces copper-gold project.
In 2016, Western Atlas Resources Inc. merged with Copper Fox Metals Inc. to form District Copper Corp., a mineral exploration company focused on copper projects in Canada and the United States.
